Our History

SMO-Pharmina is the leading site management organization in Georgia, that provides identification and recruitment of feasible sites, Investigators and patients, radically increasing the effectiveness of clinical research and availability of new medications.

Changes in the Georgian healthcare system began in the year 2000. Large soviet hospitals were replaced by multiple small-sized clinics. By 2010, more than 200 clinics had been opened. The forementioned processes created the necessity of an organization that would assist clinics in implementing GCP standards and quality management systems.

“SMO-Pharmina” Ltd was founded in 2006. Since then, we have been offering clinical trial sites qualified study coordinators, technical support, pharmaceutical warehousing, and archive services.

  • Since 2008, laboratory support has been added to our services and our organization was granted international certificate ISO 9001:2000.
  • In 2010, two clinical trial sites managed by SMO-Pharmina underwent FDA Inspections, after which Form 483 was not issued. 
  • In 2011-2012, the company’s services were enriched with Project Management, Regulatory Affairs and Site Monitoring Services. The Company was granted ISO 9001:2008. 
  • In 2014, our warehouse and archive were upgraded with up-to-date equipment, the number of partner sites was increased and regional sites were actively recruited
  • In 2015, the Quality Management system was upgraded.
  • In 2017 we established a multi-profile training center that offers different types of training courses. The Company was granted ISO 9001:2015 international certificate. 

During 11 years of experience, our company has trained more than 35 clinical trial specialists; most of them now work for international companies in the positions of CRA, Lead CRA or as Project Managers.
